  3. I thought John's wish was that it was down load only?!

  4. Hey you guys need to make a correction on the Ultan Conlon piece, he was in a band at the time called ULTANJOHN when he recorded the song with John Martyn.

  5. I've just spent most of the weekend listening to the tribute album, and I'm astounded on many levels. What a fantastic way to celebrate the great man's musical legacy. So much more could have been put on I'm sure. There's a lot to say about this collection and in my opinion they are all positive.
Where to start, mmm I think what does come through is first and foremost the music and the craft of each song, spanning John's career. Sure there are different takes, and the only one I'm not sure on is Paolo Nutini's version but the rest are between great and spine tingling.
I won't write about every track which I happily could but a few stand out - notably Robert Smith's 'Small Hours'. He's kept the essence of the song and added some exquisite guitar reverbs and bass to the background along with his vocals, quite brilliant, can't stop playing it. Judie Tzuke is another who I've admired, and here her vocals shine through, along with Vetiver's version go 'Go Easy', a younger sounding John maybe, beautiful.
Syd Kitchen adds a South African influence to 'Fine Lines' which works nicely, maybe he and John are up there playing.
Another version I really love is Morcheeba's 'Run Honey Run' heard by John, again Bradley Burgess sounding like John in places as does John Smith on 'Walk To The Water' another gem. 'John Wayne' if I were to be critical, is a little too quick, by Oh My God, but really rocks, play this loud!!. Brendan Campbell on 'Anna' strips the song down and does a fine job of this song to bring out the lyrics.
'You Can Discover' is truly a delight by Cheryl Wilson, and with the great man playing it only adds to how special this is. He says 'I think you might have it there' which says it all.
There are several artists that have been introduced to me through this experience, which I will no doubt explore further, so if for no other reason, I'm thankful to those, who chose them.
The production and quality of this entire collection is absolutely superb and one of the best sounding recordings I have. I would like to take this chance to thank all those involved in its production and congratulate them on a remarkable project. The production is consistently good throughout which is a credit to everyone.

Good groovin' to everyone and thank you from a fan. God bless you John for your music that makes life a bit easier.

A fine album. It could be a great album if it will be only 1 CD, they are a bit too much up and down in quality. I know, most of the time it is a question if I like it or not. But there is also bad music, I'm afraid on the tribute is ONE WORL really bad. Most horrible part of music I've listen in the last years.

  8. Totally agree Walter, why on earth is Jim Tulio playing a song it! Sonia who? Nicholas Barron? Very obscure artists, friends of the record company is my guess and not very good music as you said...

Peter & Walter, think you are talking through your rear end end there. This album is a wonderful tribute to a great man, and shows the diversity of the people he influenced over his career. I'd rather have a fantastic version of a JM song by some currently unknown performer, than an absolutely disasterous version by some so called established name, which you seem to be suggesting. Think you both need to listen to this album more than once, and in its entirety!!!

  9. One World by Paolo is simply fabulous in my opinion but there are some songs that leave me cold and asking why oh why!
