  1. I'm waiting since two years for this record. I can't wait anymore, but I hope it will come in this spring! Let's hope together and then: listen!

  2. nice picture... I echo the sentiments of klaus, 2 years is just about long enough to wait for anything...but once we have it (and no doubt love it),what will we do then? I know and know and know that we already have more than enough beautiful tunes to carry us on and through the foreverness of everything...but it will seem strange - not having anything 'new' to look forward to...almost like a full stop.

  3. Will, and when we got it, the new album, we will have a long time fun and luck and peace with it. But after that we can look forward for the tribute album, I think it will be a very big thing with so much famous musicians who love Johns music.
After that I hope John Hillarby will get some forgotten tapes from island records and will release a new Deluxe Edition from "Inside out" or"Sundays child" or something else. Johns music will live on ...

  4. The name change is interesting..from the intended 'Willing To Work', but Im sure theres good reason. Looking forwards to this one, thats for sure.
Yes, once this is out, thats it, it would seem, but there may be the odd home recording or tapes found (as intonated above). Tribute album and his music will be good, but the point is 'John' himself I suppose..that *bloody* voice and/or guitar getting right inside you. I agree with Klaus, this music will never die.

[PS: The BBC didnt release *all* the video of John (and Danny T) on the OGWT - isn't there fine lines but def' also outside in- with Danny T..that wasn't on the JM at the BBC DVD...yet the video *does* exist-it was on the Johnny Too Bad documentary!
I think theres more BBC video of JM that could be procured, somehow?]

  5. Whoa...it now seems we have two definite release dates for both Heaven and Earth and the covers/tribute album (3rd May / 12th July)...it seems kinda strange after all this waiting around that there is finally some 'product' on the horizon...breath still baited, fingers still crossed. ( Will any of these releases be available on vinyl or is it CD only?)

  7. This cover: is it an "original" photo from John? If it is, then I suppose it's from the 90ties? But it looks as if its made at the PC...

  9. Just had a look at amazon uk via the pre-order album link. It seems that they estimate delivery of 'Heaven and Earth'for some time around the 16th of May - almost 2 weeks after the proposed release date of May the 3rd! Is the album gonna be available via the usual retail outlets! - if so, I would rather get it myself - on the 3rd! Don't fancy hanging around - know what I mean...still love the album cover - despite Klaus's photoshop 'concerns'...as for the name change- Willing to Work / Heaven and Earth...tra la la la la.

  10. Further research on Amazon.co.uk reveals that there's an import version that's due to be released on the 3rd of May, however, when I pre-ordered it, the delivery date was the 12th/16th of May, so as it was £19, it seemed a little pointless ordering it...

  11. The clip of the track 'Heaven and Earth' on Amazon sounds stunning. Can't wait to hear it all. Anyone else heard the clips?

  12. I've listened to all the clips and it all sounds very promising - looking like he finished in good form...

  13. CD has just popped through the post box...still to play it, currently just staring at it..! First comment must be the lack of detailed information about the individual tracks; who, when, where might be nice to know, rather than just generalisations about the album as a whole.
Still can't play it yet, I need quality time for this wondermint. Thanks John, wherever you are.

  14. Am enjoying the album. I cried through the first listening feeling sad that this is the musical end. It's a "grower". There are some wonderful raw vocals and instruments. To hear the reed vibrate in the sax is great."Could have told you..." is tremendously uplifting. Much that I like Phil Collins his vocals are a little sweet and feel added-on. But that's a minor point. I can't imagine anyone else getting away with "Whoopee dee Whoopee doo" in their lyrics. Thanks for everything John and those who brought this to life. R

  16. I am sorry to say that i am disappointed by John's last album and feel sad that this is the last we will have from the great man!
It just does not serve as a testament to how talented and brilliant he was and such a pioneer in his sound and music.

    Nev...long time John fan

  17. Well I've been listening all week and resisted commenting until it had all sunk in.

Overall, with a heavy heart I have to say it's probably not an album I'll return to very often.

It's beautifully produced, but the songs are really coming across as mere sketches to me. Sadly the Phil Collins song is probably the strongest on the CD, although Willing to Work and the title track run it close.

Top marks to the engineering and production though, the drums sound fantastic on this record, as does the sax.

Sorry guys, I have almost everything JM ever released, but this isn't him at his best...but really, how could it be?

  18. Was it really necessary to release this stuff?

This is not an album. These are not songs, not finished songs anyway.

Songs are barely sketches: John improvising some vocals on the same chord.

    Very disappointing.

Only two songs worth of mention: Heaven and Heart and Could've Told You. Maybe Willing to Work. The Phil Collins' cover, at the end, is the best thing on the record.

    Sad but true.
